June 9th, 2001 Day 5 Another
great day, another great 150 miles!!!
Whether it is a fisherman on a bridge, or a farmer at his stand, they all have one thing in common, overwhelming admiration for our journey.
The BBQ was delicious and a welcome change of pace from pasta. We know you will enjoy your week at camp this summer. We hope to see you there.
Ron
Paquette's son Randy met back up with us for a few more miles and a
few more smiles. |
Everyday we run into interesting people who all embrace our mission.
A special Thank You to Georgia James and her daughters Sara Lynn and Kristin for the Southern hospitality.

June 8th, 2001 Day 4 Another
150 miles covered by the Miracle Runners today, bringing the total up
to 600 MILES.
Today's light rain was a welcome relief from the heat that we have endured since the start of the run.
A special thanks to the Heather, Spenser, Sam & Jessica from Olanta, SC for the donation. We appreciate your words of encouragement, which helped us finish our day smiling. |
From Columbia, South Carolina we will head to Fayetteville, North Carolina. Approximately 1000 miles separate us from Camp Sunshine. .

June 7th, 2001 Day 3 Today
we crossed two state lines - Georgia and South Carolina. We are running
strong!!!
Ron's son Randy Paquette joined his dad and team for 7 miles. Way to go Randy! Thanks for being there for us and your dad.
So far, we have run approximately 450 miles in three days. Only 1,150 miles to go!!! Stay tuned. |
It was an eventful day for all of us, including David Gross, who stopped in to a Baptist Church for some water during his run, and ended up playing the piano for theMinister. Later during his run, he got a lesson about railroad boxcars, and became the unofficial Mayor of Savannah for the day (please don't tell the real mayor).
We made the news in Jacksonville, FL and Savannah, GA, and continued to let everyone know why we are on the road..

June 6th, 2001 Day 2 Hello everybody, Day two of the Miracle Marathon has come and gone and we are still smiling.
The sun was ablaze again today, with temperatures in the 90's. Pouring rain and thunderstorms could not derail us off our track to Camp Sunshine.
|
Tomorrow we will leave the sunshine state making our way to Savannah, Georgia. So far we have run 300 miles.
Thank you to Ron Paquette's son Randy for coming down from Macon, Georgia to cheer his dad on. We know your dad, as well as the rest of the runners, enjoyed your company..
And finally,a special thanks to the Arlington Lion's Club (Jacksonville) for the much needed (and delicious) pasta dinner. We greatly appreciate their hospitality. |

June
5th, 2001 We are all safe and extremely happy to be under way. The first day of the Miracle Marathon was a huge success.
At the start, we had a chance to meet some of the children and families who will be coming to Camp Sunshine this summer. It was a very emotional moment for all..
It was a scorcher down here!!! Most of us are not accustomed to Florida's humidity and high temperatures, yet everybody remained strong and spirits soared. We know the road ahead will be long and tiring, but every step is worth our effort and the effort of all who those who have helped us make this a success. |
We started the 1600 mile journey at St. Mary's Hospital in West Palm Beach, FL at 9:30 am
We would like to thank all of our friends, family members, everyone at St. Mary's Hospital, Camp Sunshine, and everybody who has contributed to the Miracle Marathon. We would also like to extend a special thanks to the Space Coast Runners from Brevard County, FL for running with us and literally helping us go the distance. You are a special group of people and an inspiration to us all.
